HERO'S KIDS
“Hero’s Kids” as they called themselves, proudly completed a Youth Leadership program this month. Above is, Teri Espinoza, Coordinator, Kendall Connolly, President, Kaylei Deakin, Vice-President, Noelle Kempker, Secretary, John Kempker, Jr., Sergeant at Arms, Corey Parrish who also acted as Sergeant at Arms and Barbara Brackett, Assistant Coordinator.
The Youth Leadership program is an eight week program through Toastmasters International designed to give young people under the age of 18 an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of public speaking. During the course, they learned how to compose and deliver a speech, impromptu speaking, evaluation, gestures and vocal variety, how to conduct a meeting and parliamentary procedure. The children also learned how to nominate and elect a slate of officers and each served as an officer during the program.
The Sacramento National Guard Armory hosted the five children of military families in the area who participated in the program and the Speaking Machine Toastmasters club of Elk Grove sponsored and provided the materials and coordinators for the program.
